Start your visit in the Welcome Center  

Located in the Caretaker's Cottage on the north side of the grounds, the Welcome Center and Museum Shop is where you will begin  your visit to Van Cortlandt House. Here you will pay admission fees and pick up a self-guided tour booklet.  You can also pick up a calendar or map of Van Cortlandt Park, or find out more about the park.  

The Welcome Center shares space with the Museum Shop where you can purchase a souvenir of your visit.  
  • Traditional toys such as rolling hoops, bilbouquet, Revolutionary War American and British toy soldiers. 
  • Greeting cards featuring images of objects in the VCHM collection.
  • Postcards.
  • Van Cortlandt House Museum soaps in lavender and verbena scents.
  • Decorative pillows, kitchen towels, and candlesticks.

The Museum Shop also carries snacks, water, cold soft drinks, coffee, tea, and hot chocolate.
